Transforming Lives Through Education & Mentorship
At the Danville Church & Community Tutorial Program (DCCTP), we are proud to witness incredible transformations in the lives of the students and families we serve. From academic improvements to personal growth and confidence building, our program is making a lasting difference in the Danville community.

I have one student who started the school year with a D/F reading average. We worked with him on a consistent basis. We read with him, went over his spelling words, put him on Read Theory (which we are still working with him on). He was one we help on a daily basis because there were so many who were saying there was no helping him because his grades in first grade were not good. He struggled with learning to read and writing. His handwriting was terrible and almost illegible. We gave him some writing worksheets to help with his writing and constantly worked with him on his reading and vocabulary. We started to see some improvement after the first six weeks but he was still in the D/F range in grades. He wanted to learn because even on days we weren't having tutoring he would come in and ask for help with his homework (which we help all of the ones who come to the center daily with their homework). He was patient and we were patient, he really was trying his best and putting forth his best effort. Then all of a sudden the light bulb went off and as of the third six weeks he was on the principal's list. We are all very proud of him. He is also the student that we submitted for the bike giveaway.
When I first started working in Cedar Place I would have this one child who would lurk around . I would catch him creeping around the corner and I would tell him to come to tutoring and he would run back home. Sometimes while he would be running away he would scream ,”I hate tutoring “. One day I actually surprised him and talked him into coming this one time for me and after that day he would complain but show up . When he started coming he would be backed up on months of assignments and did not know any of his multiples . Now when he shows up he actually has some of work done or he comes to tutoring prepared to do work without even complaining . He also recently learned his 2’s,3’s,4’s, and 5’s and is looking forward to learning even more. He also volunteers to even be my reader when we read stories or paragraphs at tutoring . He went from being a student who hate tutoring to one that shows up consistently prepared to do some work!
